But the deal was, he had to be busy this summer, he couldn't just sit around.
CC, you're my hero!

Good for you, Mom! I hope your son has learned some small lesson from all this.

(PS: Your children seem to have grown up amazingly fast!)

Awww, thanks, Pony & Harriett. I needed to get him out of the house, otherwise he and his brother argue out of sheer boredom. Too bad I can't cart the little one off to volunteer too.

I know, Harriett. *Sniff* My eldest graduates this spring from high school and will be off to college next fall. He's quite the young man already. This summer he grew a fairly significant beard (gotee) way faster than my DH ever could. (Yeah, ummm and he's only 17. Clearly, he takes after his mother when it comes to rapid facial hair growth. Hummph! ) My youngest will be in 7th grade and turning 13 this December. A preteen already. *ack* Great. He's going through hormonal preteen emotions and I'm going through pre-menopausal emotions. All I can say is my DH better brace himself and get ear plugs.

Is Elder still doing his unpaid work--cheerfully?

Surprisingly, yes! It's just after volunteering, the grumpy, sleepy little worker is fairly worthless to count on him doing anything other than sleeping.
