I had a friend who couldn't get her tubes tied without her husband's signature!

That was in the 70's....and at the same time a man could just take himself in and get the snip without his wife even knowing about it!!!!!

Brilliant! And, about that beating heart. Those male legislators want men to have authority over bringing a baby into the world, but refuse to acknowledge that men should have equal responsibility for that child once it's in the world. Did they all fail basic biology?

Oh, I love her too, but I had to sign when my husband was "clipped." That was soon after our second child was born in 1970.

I didn't. 1973, different state. Obviously state law, not federal.

Actually, we were in the service at the time and it was due to his young age. We were both just 23 years old and the service doctors thought that extremely young so they wanted my signature too. Go figure.

Just be sure to put it in the blender or food processor when you whack. None of that "reattaching it" bit.
