No, not romantic attachments! :p

Previously when posting photos, we could only attach a wee picture as an attachment, but if we linked to another site (eg flickr) we could embed larger pictures in our message, as I did here: http://talk.wwwomen.com/showthread.php?t=585

But now, it seems even the pictures which are hosted on another site like flickr are smaller, at a max of 620 x 280. Max height of 280 is pretty wee. I was under the impression that if the pictures are hosted somewhere else they are not using bandwidth here. Am I wrong and is there a way to include large images?

Second question: previously when we included a URL, if we used the hyperlink button we could write any text we wished in place of the URL, eg "Me acting like a complete loon" and this was automagically made into an active link. But as far as I can see, now we have to write the URL.

Am I missing something here?

I don't know... Not right now anyway, but I will figure it out later...But you already did one of those things already with the snowball in this thread: http://talk.wwwomen.com/showthread.php?t=677 What did you click on to do that? How did you attach it?

Then you can figure out the other thing Sheila was asking about.

Then you can figure out the other thing Sheila was asking about.OH! I uploaded my image to Photobucket.com then copy and pasted the address into my post.... You can only do that in a few folders... Open Talk being one. To check to see if it's allowed in the folder you're posting in, scroll to the bottom and look on the left... If it says " code is On" then it will work... It says that for this folder... If it didn't, I couldn't post this image inside this post: [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y143/Ginny868/lost.gif

If you don't have Photobucket, or any other site that automatically gives you the code you need, you can click the 'insert image' button... It's the yellowish button with mountains... The enter the address of the image. But, again, it only works if the folder allows images to be inserted into posts...

Does that help?

Thank you Ginny. I knew you'd know and be able to explain it to us.

And I love that sign. I'm borrowing it.

Yes! :clap:I got an answer to both my questions by following the usual 'best method': ask a young'un. DS1 has used similar forums so he advised me.

(Some of you may already had figured all this out, but for those who haven't I'll share with you.)

1) If we wish to embed a large picture in the message that is already hosted on another site, do NOT use the Additional Options > Attach Files > "Manage Attachment" button (this is where I made went wrong previously). Instead simply click on the "Insert Image" button as Ginny said and enter the URL of the image as on the old forum.

2) To make a piece of text into a hyperlink, write what you wish to say in the text box, highlight it, then use the "Insert Link" button (the one with the world and the chain link) to add the URL as before. Here's my usual hiking hunk (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/128/393286643_7c105c3f62.jpg)

It's all so obvious really, I just couldnae see the wood for the trees.

ps the above directions are for Enhanced Interface in the Message Editor - the WYSIWYG option.

We enjoyed a wee walk in the hills today, despite the weather changing from sunshine to hailstones to cloudy to sleet to sunny to 'iffy'.
