24 Hours Without Her
Curled into her, I sleep,
Hands warm in their favored spot,
Above her right knee,
Waking to remember,
Her call was this,
“I won’t love you anymore.”
To which I reply,
“I can’t love you any less.”
In the shower,
The rain of water becomes,
Her fingertips and
Steam her breath.
Her call was this,
“I won’t love you anymore.”
To which I reply
“I can’t love you any less.”
Her last kiss I find,
In the softness of my cheek.
Savoring the salty remains
Sends quivers down my spine.
Her call was this,
“I won’t love you anymore.”
To which I reply
“I can’t love you any less.”
Seeking solace in Ocean waters
I am in her arms again
Waves crash over and under us
As we ride the crest to Earth’s safety.
Her call was this
“I miss you, come home.”
To which I replied,
“I have never left.”
