The boys have taken a fortnight's pay the last 2 weeks.

Lewis' hearing seems to be going, he just 'wasn't right' so I took him to the vet last week. Good check over, blood tests, all okay slight elevanted enzyme to do with kidneys, but nothing to worry about. But the vet said he'll have to have a urine test before he can have any medication for his rheumatics. $300.00

No, I will *not* chase my moggy around with a bowl trying to catch his pee.

Anyway - I'll have to take him back, and they can do it.

Took Thelonius to have his teeth cleaned on Friday (long overdue, he's got bad gingervitis). $470.00.

They asked me if I wanted a blood test done because he's geriatric now, at 10 years old.

MY BABY IS A GERIATRIC!!!!! MY LITTLE KITTEN!!! WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN???

Anyway - sorry about that - HE had a lesion on one of his teeth so it had to come out. Sore and sorry. Poor little bugger on Friday night and Saturday, but fine today.

Biggest problem is that he's got to have dry food for 2 weeks, because soft stuff might get caught in the spot where his tooth was. So I've got two moggies staring at me reproachfully, because they want their kangaroo mince! And other nice stuff. They do love their dried biscuits, but only when they get the rest as well.

And ..... I don't even want to think of this, but Lewis is the equivalent to 80 years old in human terms.

I'll have to stay away from the razor blades!

 good lord, didn't you just get him the other day?? Sure seems like it. 10 years!

My little simon is 14 years old but you wouldn't know it - still has a spring in his little feline step. I had his teeth cleaned last year and they had to remove about half a dozen teeth, poor baby.

Sammie (aka Horatio) has urinary problems so we give him special food. Anyway, we had to get a urine sample from him a couple of times and it wasn't too bad. We were given little plastic beads to put into a clean litter box. They use that as "litter"; since the beads can't absorb anything, the urine sits in the pan and you collect it with a syringe. You might ask your vet if they have the beads & syringe for urine collection - better than a bowl!! :D

I don't know how it happens with pets. Lord knows *we* don't age in 10 years. Those expenses almost make pet insurance seem worth it. (Probably it isn't, really). Oooh, you put my favorite photo back up on your avatar.

Buddy, too, is ten years old. Seems like I just picked him up yesterday and brought him home. He had to have five teeth removed and spent an overnight at the vet's. He was not a happy camper at all!

I use a special tartar cleaning dry food with him but still must brush his teeth which he absolutely hates. He is still quite spry as well, and often begs to play. His latest trick is jumping from the arm of the chair to the fireplace mantel. He wants the attention that he gets when we go over to get him down. However, I learned yesterday that he can get down, but plays like he can't! Who is the trainer and who is being trained? I sometimes wonder.....

When Juno had a bladder infection last winter, I followed her around and caught her pee in a little Tupperware bowl. I was so proud when I gave it to the vet. The couldn't use it, as I didn't realize it wasn't considered sterile-lol

Give your 'old man' a pat for me....

No, not the other day, but surely it was only last year?

Sigh.

I'll give him a gentle pat - but I have to admit, he still thinks he's a kitten too - dont' want to disabuse him.

And my avator - that's him last year. You know, when he was still only a few months old.

As my mother would say: 'there are none so blind ...'

As I've stated here before, Big Fat White Cat, who's 12, has diabetes. The insulin goes up every month (don't you just love the pharmacy industry?). It's now $100 a month plus the cost of the syringes. I have a prescription plan for him, but no health coverage. He also has teeth problems that got so bad I had to bring him to a dental vet specialist. Wow, did that cost me.

Thank goodness Pretty Little Black Cat, also 12 yrs old, is healthy and spunky.
