And for everyone who wanted to know my plans for the day. I hadn't made any. No shows. No party. No nothin'. Then my cousin called and said he was going to visit his mom, my favorite aunt, who's in a home because of her Alzheimer's. I haven't seen her in a while, so this will be a treat for me.

BTW - you can all wish Milo (Big Fat White Cat) and Matilda (Pretty Little Black Cat) a happy 11th. When we adopted them we were told they were about 8 weeks old. We counted back and although June 28th wasn't exactly 8 weeks we figured we'd remember their birthday if we made it the same day as mine.

Seeing my aunt was great, although I'm not sure she knew who I was. She seemed to recognize me, yet when she was introducing me and my cousin, her son, to one of the aides, she introducted us as, "this is my son and my daughter." When I told the aide that I wasn't her daughter, but her niece, my aunt didn't seem to notice that she had made a mistake. She was happy to see me and that's all that matters. No matter who she thinks I am.

I am so glad you went and had such a delighful visit.

I have worked with Alzheimers clients..you gave her a happy valadition of herself..she may not have remembered , maybe even the visit, but the feelings stay for quite a while and she was probably very happy for a long time after you all left! This is a very big gift to give.

I have a siamese almost exactly the same age as your babies..and he is still just a "baby"..hope your mousers got a nice treet!!

I grew up across the street from her and we (the kids) were always in each other's homes. After my father (her brother) died an untimely death, she became closer to me - I assume it was her way of keeping him closer to her. And to top it off, her own daughter is a miserable, crazy loon who doesn't care about her mother at all.
