How many US states can you remember in 10 minutes? Spelling counts, but you can type in all big or all small letters.
Have fun. :D

I got all of them with just over 1 minute left, but I admit that I had to cheat to get the correct spelling of one state... Anyone want to guess which state that was?

I got 49. It said I got 48 claiming that I forgot Colorado. But I know I entered it because my daughter is spending her summer there. I think I spelled it wrong or made a typo and it flashed off like the correctly spelled ones and I didn't realize it didn't count.

Nope... Connecticut was easy to learn to spell... Connect I Cut...
The state I have trouble spelling is Massachusetts... I don't know why since it looks easy enough to remember...

I had trouble spelling Tennesee - Tenneese - Tenessee - I finally got it right, but it used up a lot of time.
Massachusetts is one I often get wrong too.
The one I couldn't remember was Wisconsin. After I entered about 15 states alphabetically, then I started geographically from the Northeast, worked my way south, then west, then north, then east. Then I went in the mid area. I knew I forgot the state that is right there (as I pointed to where it is), but I couldn't remember its name.
If we we do the state capitals I won't do nearly as well.

I'm always forgetting Delaware and Maryland.

I'm always forgetting Delaware and Maryland.
I had 45 states on recall - had to look up Maryland and 4 western states. Considering there are 50 of the buggers, I guess that's not too bad.

I sent this link off to some friends and family. The subject in the email was, "How many states can you name?" My cousin replied, "state of confussion, state of anarchy, state of mind, solid state, and my favorite, gaseous state." Yeah, he's a little disgusting, but funny.
I missed eight! I am really behind in my lessons!!!:D

No, that's great. I keep reading how American schoolchildren are losing their knowledge of America. Besides, I'd be just as hard-pressed to identify the different...erm...districts? counties? of the UK countries.
Lessee...Lancashire, Leitrum, Galway, Cork...ummmm...see what I mean? I'm not even sure if Wales is divvied up into sub-bits. Scotland must be.

Haha I named 16. I'd make a BAD American!16 is great. I would guess that most Americans can't name that many. Those of us that have admitted to being able to name so many are in the minority. I assume those Americans who couldn't name too many just didn't admit it.
Years ago I had an online friend who lived in Illinois. I asked her to name the states that bordered her state. She couldn't name one. Actually, she did name 2, but neither was right.

My father's aunt used to live in Lincolnshire (Boston, I think)... She moved back to the States after her husband died.

Just a bad speller. I should know. I can barely even spell my own name sometimes! :D
I spelling didn't count, I'm sure you would have been able to name more states.
Silly spelling. Who needs it when we have spell check?

True. But where are the Americans who couldn't name more than 20, or wouldn't even try? I don't see many of them popping up telling us how many they could name - except brave Nancie.

Well, I got them all but Maryland. And that used to be one of the states in my territory at work!
*Sigh*
But 49 isn't bad.
I'd bet my father who is 86 years young could get them all.
I'll send the link to him and see how he does.
I'll let you know.
